A familiar cat seems to be staying in the north.
The Buffalo Bills will re-sign safety Sam Franklin Jr. to a three-year contract worth up to $7.5 million, ESPN senior reporter Jeremy Fowler reported. Franklin spent his first five NFL seasons with the Carolina Panthers, a run that ends before the 2025 season.

Franklin’s career began in 2020 when the Panthers signed the Temple University product as an undrafted free agent. He reconnected with then-head coach Matt Rhule, who led the Owls in his first season at Franklin.
While at Carolina, Franklin totaled 105 tackles, a sack, an interception, a touchdown catch and a forced fumble. Most of his production (62.9%) came on special teams, and his performance helped him earn the captaincy in 2024.
He started all 19 games for the Bills in 2025, including two playoff games.
