British stone. CHARLES, Ill. (WGN) — Firefighters rushed into icy water to rescue a husky that fell into a pond near St. Charles and struggled in the frigid conditions Monday morning.
According to the Fox River and Rural Fire Department, dispatchers received a call around 7:30 a.m. about a dog barking at a pond in unincorporated St. Charles.
Fire officials said the husky did not have a collar but did have a microchip. However, the phone number linked to the chip did not work.

Officials believe the dog spent about an hour in the water before being rescued. The husky was taken to Dundee Animal Hospital and staff are working to find its owner.
