Oshkosh resident rescued from fire, no one injured
Chilton Fire Department personnel responded to a fire on Hickory Hills Road in Chilton around 5:30 a.m. Saturday and learned a family of eight was trying to escape.
Officers arrived to find large amounts of smoke coming from outside the home and a basement fire that had destroyed the entire first floor, forcing them to adopt a different plan of attack.
As the home sustained extensive fire, smoke and water damage, crews worked from the outside and later entered the second floor to prevent the fire from spreading into the attic.
A large number of ambulances were dispatched as there were likely to be a large number of people at the scene who needed treatment for smoke inhalation. All family members were treated and released from local hospitals.
