The FBI is offering a $1 million reward for information leading to the arrest of one of its Ten Most Wanted fugitives.
Omar Alexander Cardenas is wanted by local and federal authorities in connection with a 2019 murder in Los Angeles.
Cardenas is accused of shooting the victim, Jabali Dumas, several times at a barber shop on Aug. 15, 2019, according to the FBI. Dumas was shot in the head and died, authorities said.

Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonald said Cardenas had “known gang affiliations” and the shooting was believed to be gang-related.
The FBI said a local arrest warrant was issued for Cardenas in April 2020 after he was charged with murder. It is believed he may have fled to Mexico and been charged with federal illegal flight to avoid prosecution, according to the FBI.

When Cardenas was placed on the “Ten Most Wanted Fugitives” list in 2022, the FBI initially offered a $100,000 reward for information on Cardenas’ whereabouts. The reward was subsequently increased to $250,000 and has now soared to $1 million, the FBI announced Tuesday.
McDonald called the new award a “critical step forward” in the case.
“We believe someone knows the whereabouts of Omar Cardenas and we urge anyone with information to come forward,” the chief said at a news conference Tuesday. “Our mission is clear – find and arrest Cardenas and bring justice to the Dumas family.”

Akil Davis, assistant director in charge of the FBI’s Los Angeles field office, said the relationship between the United States and the Mexican government “has never been stronger,” noting that Mexico recently arrested another “most wanted” fugitive, former Olympic skier and alleged drug lord Ryan Wedding.
Davis shared a message directed at Cardenas.
“Mexico is not safe for you, Mr. Cardenas, if that’s where you’re hiding,” Davis told a news conference. “I have every confidence in this task force and they will bring you to justice.”
