Formula One driver Jack Doohan has revealed he was forced to call the police to intervene during a confrontation with armed men during last year’s Miami Grand Prix and received death threats.
The shocking events happened before the Australian driver lost his Alpine Formula 1 car.

In the documentary, Doohan explicitly details the nature of the threat. “During this Grand Prix I received serious death threats that if I didn’t get out of the car they would kill me here,” he said.
He elaborated: “I got six or seven emails saying that if I were still in the car in Miami, you know, all my limbs would be chopped off.”

As well as the digital threats, Doohan recounted a physical incident in which he was confronted by three “armed men” and required a call to his security detail.

“I had to call my police escort to get the situation under control,” he explained, without specifying how the situation was resolved or who was responsible.
These events coincided with a pivotal moment in Doohan’s career. He made his Alpine debut in the final race of the 2024 season before being replaced by Franco Colapinto at the end of Miami, which marked the sixth race of the 2025 season.
Doohan currently serves as Haas’s reserve driver. Doohan spoke publicly about the online abuse he and his family had suffered following Colapinto’s appointment in May, with suggestions at the time that fans from Colapinto’s native Argentina were responsible.
Doohan and Colapinto were both the only two drivers in F1 to fail to score points last season, with Alpine finishing bottom of the constructors’ championship.
