Injury update

Carrick was first asked about the status of his injured star.

“Yes, Josh [Zirkzee] Carrick replied: “He’s going back to training this week, which is great news. Obviously, it’s the first time, so he’s been out for a short period of time, but it’s the first time he’s training with us since we’ve been here, so it’s great to have Josh back.” Shoot, [Dorgu]Unfortunately, he will be out for a while. We’re still figuring out how long this will last. So we’ll have to see. “

“It’s disappointing that he’s had such a big couple of weeks, Pat. So we’re not sure if it’s a little bit cramped or something more serious. Right now, it’s looking a little bit more serious. So it’s going to take a couple of weeks and we’re going to have to wait a couple more weeks. So it’s disappointing for all of us, really, for Pat as well. He’s in a good spot, but unfortunately, that’s football and that’s something we’ve got to address and get him back as soon as possible.”

When asked about Matthijs de Ligt, he replied: “Yeah, he hasn’t trained with us yet. So we’re just trying to go through the process and get him back as soon as possible.”

The next question was “Michael, when you look back at Manchester United over the last year or so, I know you haven’t been here all the time but you’ve seen a lot of the team play. A consistent theme has been the struggle at Old Trafford to consistently win games. Do you know why that is?”

Carrick replied:

“I think at the end of the day, consistency is the key to success. Being in good shape consistently is one of the hardest things to achieve, in my opinion. So, yeah, it takes a lot of work. It takes a certain level of performance, it takes a level of mentality, intensity and focus and actually being able to emotionally handle the ups and downs that come with each game and move on to the next game.”

“So there’s just so much that’s involved. Listen, that’s what we’re working towards. We’ve had a good couple of weeks with two big results. Bigger games are coming and just keeping our minds and emotions in the right place going into the next one, like we did in the first two games.”
