Eagle to start 27,000ft drilling at Aurora Uranium Project

Eagle Nuclear Energy plans to begin a 27,000-foot drilling program at its Aurora uranium project on the border of Oregon and Nevada in the United States.

The initiative aims to facilitate projects to undergo pre-feasibility studies (PFS).

Based on a comprehensive “gap analysis” conducted by Eagle consultants BBA USA, a focused drilling program has been planned to address data gaps at the Aurora site.

The project focuses on resource expansion, classification enhancement, metallurgy and geotechnical analysis for future development.

Data and samples from the drill program will contribute to the previously mentioned studies and form the basis of the final PFS.

Management has been carefully planning this move since September 2025, working closely with BBA and SLR International.

The program, planned for early July, will include 47 diamond drill holes and will be analyzed in detail using a gamma probe.

Selected holes will undergo acoustic televiewer surveys to provide structural geological data, while other holes will collect hydrogeological information.

It is expected to be completed in three to four months using two to three drilling rigs.

Eagle has launched a request for proposals to secure the necessary equipment and plans to complete the PFS in the second half of 2027.

Aurora is a key component of Eagle’s strategy to create a vertically integrated nuclear energy platform that combines domestic uranium resources with advanced SMR technology.

The company views Aurora as a potential strategic uranium source for future nuclear power as global demand for nuclear power increases and efforts are made to strengthen the U.S. fuel supply chain.

Vishal Gupta, Vice President of Operations at Eagle, said: “While each drill hole is assigned a primary purpose, it is also designed to simultaneously achieve additional secondary and tertiary objectives, thereby limiting the size of the overall drilling program without compromising any objectives.

“For us, both BBA and SLR have to make an integral contribution to the planning process of this drill program, as both companies are tasked with helping Eagle take Aurora to the PFS stage from a technical and licensing perspective respectively.”

“Eagle to Commence 27,000 ft of Drilling at Aurora Uranium Project” was originally created and published by Mining Technology, a brand of GlobalData.
