E3 2021 will be held from June 12th to June 15th. The organizer, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) announced that it will host this year’s version of the Game Expo online. The confirmed lineup of developers includes Capcom, Konami, Nintendo, Take-Two Interactive, Ubisoft, Warner Bros. Games and Xbox. It is worth noting that Sony has not yet announced its participation in this year’s event. Last year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, ESA has completely cancelled E3, but announced that E3 2021 will be a “reimagined” event.
ESA announced through a blog post that it will work with global media partners to make the event free for everyone. Developers will directly show consumers new games and news through E3 2021. ESA President and CEO Stanley Pierre-Louis (Stanley Pierre-Louis) said.
Since E3 2020 was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, this year’s E3 will be an all-digital event. Organizers claim that they are working to restore the physical version of the 2022 World Expo.
Without E3 in 2020, Canadian journalist Geoff Keighley organized a summer game festival with various video game developers. It works with companies such as Bethesda, Blizzard Entertainment, CD Projekt Red, Electronic Arts, Microsoft, Riot, Sony and Square Enix to bring a virtual game expo to everyone. Keighley organized the event in the absence of other major game fairs (such as E3, Gamescom, GDC and SXSW) in whole or in part. The Summer Olympic Games will return in June 2021.
