Last month, the Disney+ app got a major redesign. Next year, Disney will merge the Disney+ and Hulu apps into one Disney+ app, and has already integrated a lot of Hulu content into Disney+. Ahead of the merger, Disney made changes to its flagship streaming service app to make it easier to access content, including a new navigation bar and more personalized recommendations.
But so far, the app redesign has been limited to U.S. subscribers. Disney announced yesterday (December 3) that the newly redesigned Disney Plus app will be rolling out to all international subscribers.
This means subscribers outside the US will now get a new user interface with a navigation bar and four tabs: For You, Disney Plus, Hulu, and ESPN (this change only applies to smart TVs and streaming devices). You’ll also start seeing more personalized recommendations in the “Recommended for You” tab.
Other changes include a new Live hub, represented by a lightning bolt icon on the sidebar); new video displays in the Heroes (top) carousel; a new, more dynamic brand row that now also includes Hulu Originals, FX, ESPN Originals and ABC News; and an updated content row featuring movie poster-style artwork that now includes badges such as “Season Finale,” “New Series,” and “New Movies.”
Now, just because you have access to content from all three brands doesn’t mean that everything from all three brands is now available on Disney+. Access to ESPN content requires that you subscribe to a bundle that includes ESPN. At the same time, Hulu content also needs to be bundled with a Hulu subscription, but even then, not all Hulu content is available through the Hulu Hub on the Disney+ app. Disney also said that only some international users will have access to ESPN, and that ESPN availability will vary by country.
US users have been able to use the updated app for about a month, so if you’ve read this far you’re probably thinking, “What’s in it for me?” Well, if you’re in the US, the app itself won’t change, but Disney yes Add supported equipment guaranteed to enhance your workouts.
Disney+ is now available on Peloton
If you’ve ever used a Peloton, you know its screen is great for watching shows and movies. But you buy a bike or treadmill to exercise, not to binge-watch TV shows.
Well, now you can have both. Yesterday (December 3), Disney announced that you can now stream Disney Plus content directly on your Peloton device. There are no restrictions either; you can watch the entire Disney+ library.
To access Disney+ on Peloton, you just need to follow two simple steps. On the screen, tap the Entertainment tab. Then, select “Disney+” and enter your Disney account email and password to log in. Once you’ve done this, you can binge-watch until you’re exhausted, but if you think you’re really going to crack, you can take a break from binge-watching and cycling.
