Brendan Rogers said Leicester City star Jamie Vardy showed no signs of slowing down, and outlined the personal investment the veteran forward has made to extend his career. The 34-year-old Vardy scored two goals in Sunday’s 4-2 home over Watford by the Foxes, raising his Premier League goals this season to nine. The former England international did not participate in the top league until the age of 27. Since his 30th birthday, he has scored 93 of 127 Premier League goals, putting him in the same position as former Arsenal striker Ian Wright level.

Leicester coach Rogers said before heading to Southampton on Wednesday: “It’s absolutely amazing to get into football when he is capable and see the data he has.”

“There is no sign that this situation will stop anytime soon because he is taking care of himself. That is all he has. He obviously has talent and will. All we do is manage him to make the most of what we can get from it. Something for him,” he added.

Vardy has a cryotherapy room (exposing players to extremely low temperatures) and other equipment to help him recover after the game.

Rogers managed Vardy’s playing time by limiting his playing time in the Europa League this season.

“He is an outstanding professional player and he is trying to ensure that his career continues as long as possible,” said the Leicester City coach, whose team is ranked 10th in the Premier League.
