The death toll continues to rise after the United States and Israel began attacking Iran, and airstrikes in the Middle East continue.

President Donald Trump has warned that airstrikes targeting Iran’s ballistic missile program and navy could continue for weeks, with more American casualties expected.

“Sadly, many more will probably die before it’s over,” Trump said of the U.S. military deaths. “That’s it.”

Since the attacks began on Saturday, February 28, Iran has launched attacks on 27 U.S. bases and other targets in nine countries, Al Jazeera reported. Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have all fought back.

As of Monday, March 2, the deaths of four U.S. service members were confirmed, according to a statement released by the Pentagon.

According to a previous report by USA Today, a British base in Cyprus was also attacked by Iran.

How many American service members were killed?

Four U.S. service members have been killed so far, according to the Pentagon. The identity of the deceased has not been released.

What are the death tolls in other countries?

The following casualties were reported in the Middle East, Al Jazeera reported, citing aid groups, government officials and local media:

  • Iran – 555 dead, hundreds injured

  • Israel – 10 dead, hundreds injured

  • United Arab Emirates – 3 dead, 58 injured

  • Bahrain – 1 person died and 4 people were injured

  • Iraq – 2 people died and 5 people were injured

  • Kuwait – 1 dead, 32 injured

  • lebanon – 31 dead, 149 injured

  • Qatar -16 injured, no fatalities reported

  • Oman – 5 people injured, no deaths reported

  • Saudi Arabia – No deaths or injuries reported

In addition, according to Reuters, demonstrations against air strikes in Pakistan turned violent, killing 23 protesters. In the Pakistani city of Karachi, U.S. consulate guards opened fire on demonstrators who broke through the outer wall, killing 10 people. In the northern city of Skardu, a group set fire to a United Nations office, killing 11 people. Two more people were killed in Islamabad.

According to Reuters, a Chinese citizen was also killed in a US-Israeli attack on Tehran, the capital of Iran.
