State broadcaster CCTV said that China successfully launched its largest carrier rocket on Tuesday, which carries a new generation of spacecraft. The Long March 5B carrier rocket took off at the Wenchang Space Launch Center in the southern island province of Hainan at 6 pm local time (3:30 pm IST). CCTV quoted the China Manned Space Engineering Office as saying that this is the first flight of Long March 5B.
About 488 seconds later, the unmanned experimental manned spacecraft, together with the test version of the cargo compartment, separated from the rocket and entered the planned orbit. The China Manned Space Administration (CMSA) said that this successful flight opened the “third step” of China’s manned space program, namely the construction of a space station.
The Long March-5B is about 53.7 meters long and has a take-off mass of about 849 tons. It also carries an inflatable cargo return module. After the launch of “Long March 5,” China will launch a series of 20-ton rockets, including Long March 5, 6, and 7,” Long March 7 commander-in-chief Wang Xiaojun told reporters. The state-run news agency Xinhua News Agency. The rocket will help integrate the core modules. And the experimental module was delivered to the Chinese space station.
China said in March that its goal is to launch an experimental spacecraft without a crew as part of a broader space program to send astronauts to its future space station and conduct future manned space exploration. The launch is scheduled for mid to late April.
China’s goal is to complete a multi-module, inhabited space station around 2022. In 2003, China became the third country after the former Soviet Union and the United States to use its own rockets to send people into space.
Since then, China has been trying to catch up with Russia and the United States and become a major space power by 2030.
Beijing has made great progress in catching up with the US space program, sending astronauts into space, putting satellites into orbit, and providing a rover on the other side of the moon.
Following the failure of the 7A model in March and the 3B model in April, the successful 54-meter Long March 5B flight will make China feel at ease.
Since 1999, Beijing has launched several spacecraft, the Shenzhou, based on the Russian Soyuz.
