Canon finally released its flagship 45-megapixel EOS R5 at $3,899. With the new built-in stabilization system and Canon’s leading dual-pixel autofocus function, it can shoot 8K 12-bit RAW video. It is equipped with a new 45-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor. With the help of DIGIC X image processor, electronic shutter and full AF and AE tracking functions, the camera can achieve ultra-fast continuous shooting speeds up to 20fps.
Despite having 45 megapixels, EOS R5’s native ISO can achieve an incredible ISO 51200 and can optionally be expanded to ISO102400. The AF coverage area has been expanded to cover the entire sensor (100% x 100%). This means that you can focus on any part of the screen and easily focus on distant subjects. The manually selected AF position on the EOS R5 is 5,940. Autofocus tracking has been greatly improved. The camera has the ability to enable the AF priority mode for people or animals. In addition, the camera can recognize not only the body, but also the head and eyes of the subject.
It has a built-in image stabilization function and can also be used in conjunction with the optical image stabilization function of the lens, with an effective shutter speed of up to 8 levels. Since EF and RF series lenses with IS or Non IS categories are supported, the camera can handle a wider range of shooting conditions. Despite its compact size, the EOS R5 still has two card slots, which can accommodate a CFexpress card and an SD memory card.
DIGIC X’s processing power combined with ultra-fast CF Express media enables the EOS R5 to record stunning 8K movies at 30fps with complete sensor readings. 8K shooting can be flexibly cropped during post-production even when delivered in 4K. In addition, you can even choose to record 8K RAW movies internally without any external attachments. Canon EOS R5 can also record up to 120fps in 4K. Provide a variety of file formats, including ALL, I or IPB compressed RAW, H.265 HEVC and H.264 MP4.
of Canon EOS R5 supports 5GHz and 2.4GHz wireless LAN, without any additional accessories, this is the company’s first product. This means that photographers can easily transfer image data from the camera to smart devices, PCs and even FTP servers. If users require faster speeds or SFTP with a secure LAN, the optional WFT-R10 can be used. It comes with 2×2 MIMO and wired LAN for faster and more stable connection. EOS R6 only supports the 2.4GHz band, but retains FTP and FTPS functions.
In addition, it also supports Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). The camera has a magnesium alloy body and is weather-proof, dust-proof and moisture-proof. It has the same shutter life of 500,000 times as the EOS-1D X Mark III. EOS R5 has a top LCD panel.
