The Italian broadcaster confirmed that Al Hilal has agreed to pay part of Cancelo’s wages for the second half of the season because the Nerazzurri, like most European clubs, are unable to pay his €15 million-a-year wages plus add-ons.

Sport Mediaset adds that Inter Milan could even send Francesco Acerbi or Stefan de Vrij to Al Hilal, as Simone Inzaghi is happy to reunite with the Nerazzurri defender.

Inter Milan are reportedly currently in talks with Cancelo as they look to convince him to return to the San Siro, despite interest from other clubs, notably Barcelona.

Cancelo to leave Al Hilal in January

Cancelo has been frozen out of Al Hilal following a falling out with Inzaghi, so the former Inter Milan and Juventus defender is set to leave the Saudi giants this month.

Juventus have also made inquiries for Cancelo, while Barcelona are also interested but have yet to make a formal offer. Therefore, even if the 31-year-old defender is said to be keen on returning to Camp Nou, his move to Inter in January remains a concrete option.
