Can Livi shed ‘nearly men’ tag in crucial run?

“We need to change that narrative,” Livingston manager David Martindale said after the home defeat to Aberdeen.

He is right. Our recurring theme of “approaching men” needs to change. We controlled the game, created some good chances and almost scored. We almost won.

But even though we deserved at least a point, we ended up with another defeat.

There are no obvious answers here that can change our destiny. The team played well and we were very, very close in every game but couldn’t push the boundaries to get the much needed win.

Every player performed well against a poor Aberdeen side but it was this horrific individual failing that led to our defeat.

I like that the manager didn’t dig into anyone’s mistakes. Mistakes always happen in football – we seem to be being punished for every one of our mistakes at the moment.

We fans have no complaints about this. I think the players were just as frustrated as we were and the manager certainly said that after the game.

Of course, if we stick with it and keep working hard to get to where we are now, we will turn things around and get some wins.

This needs to happen very quickly in our next games. We’re playing against teams around us, so some points will move us up in the table and hopefully change the narrative as well.
