As the 2022 FIFA World Cup approaches, Call of Duty: Mobile is bringing the popular footballer to the game. As part of its season 10 announcement, dubbed “world class,” Activision has confirmed that Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr, and Paul Pogba will join the game as playable operators. Update arrives on November 10th at 5:30AM IST / November 9th at 4PM PT. The World Cup will kick off in Qatar on November 20. Other major additions include a new multiplayer map, three new battle royale zones, and Call of Duty: Mobile’s first-ever customizable Mythic Operator.
Call of Duty: Mobile Season 10 New Operators
Activision released an insane Call of Duty: Mobile trailer featuring talented athletes shooting enemies on a soccer field while Messi drives around in a futuristic bike. In a blog post, the publisher confirmed that the operator added Call of Duty: Mobile to coincide with the real-life FIFA World Cup.
Season 10 also brings a brand new Battle Pass, including free and premium items such as new operators, weapon blueprints, calling cards and Pogba Operator skins. The last of these is only available as part of the Premium Battle Pass. At the moment, there is no information on how players will unlock Argentine stars Messi or Brazil’s Neymar, with more details to be revealed at launch.
Last month, leaks from the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 mainline revealed that the aforementioned football players will be included in the game. While Activision has never acknowledged the claims, this new announcement on the mobile side heightens the odds of their arrival this season, possibly later this month. The Call of Duty franchise is no stranger to bizarre crossovers, even bringing in rapper Snoop Dogg at one point and collaborating with the popular anime Attack on Titan, including themed kits.
Call of Duty: Mobile Season 10 New Maps
As mentioned, Call of Duty: Mobile Season 10 brings a major map update to its battle royale segment and adds three new points of interest to Isolation. There’s an Atlas Ship Crash Site, Atlas Refining Facility and a new football pitch for players to test their skills. On the standard multiplayer side, we have a new minimap, Crossroads Strike. In the snowy wilderness, fans may be able to recognize the arena from 2020’s Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, as it arrives on mobile as part of the Season 10 update.
Set in a snowy wilderness, players can switch between quarters and outbuildings, creating a highly frenetic close-quarters combat situation. “Watch out for that flyover that connects the two – pass quickly so you don’t get caught in the open,” it reads.
While Call of Duty: Mobile has the standard multiplayer and battle royale experience, Activision plans to release a separate Call of Duty: Warzone mobile version specifically for the latter. Sometime in 2023, Warzone Mobile drops 120 players on the map to hunt for supplies and hunt down opponents to be the last man standing. The publisher noted that there will be some connections between the mobile and mainline versions of Warzone, such as social features (friends and chat) and cross-play, enabling a shared battle pass system.
Call of Duty: Mobile Season 10: World Class launches on Android, iOS and iPadOS on Thursday, November 10 at 5:30AM IST in India / Wednesday, November 9 at 4pm PT.
