Black Shark 3S was launched by gaming smartphone maker Black Shark on Friday. This is the company’s latest gaming smartphone, after the launch of Black Shark 3 and Black Shark 3 Pro in early March this year. This new smartphone is similar to Black Shark 3 in many respects, but has better performance due to its higher 120Hz refresh rate display frequency and UFS 3.1 flash storage. Black Shark 3S will be launched in China and will be available in two colors-Sky Cloud Black and Crystal Blue.
Black Shark 3S price and deformation
Black Shark 3S will be sold in two variants, both of which will have 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM. The 128GB storage version is priced at RMB 3,999 (approximately Rs 42,620), while the 256GB storage version is priced at RMB 4,299 (approximately Rs 45,800). Compared with the UFS 3.0 storage in Black Shark 3 and Black Shark 3 Pro, Black Shark 3S uses the latest UFS 3.1 flash storage standard. This phone appears to be on sale in China through the Black Shark website.
Black Shark 3S specifications
Black Shark 3S will continue to use Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC instead of the previously rumored Snapdragon 865+ SoC. The following dimensions of the phone are 168.72mm x 77.33mm x 10.42mm, and the weight is approximately 222g.
It has a 6.67-inch 120Hz AMOLED display with an aspect ratio of 20:9 and a full HD+ resolution (1080×2,400 pixels). The display of Black Shark 3S usually has a brightness of 500nits and supports DCI-P3 color gamut and MEMC motion compensation technology. We also saw this in the OnePlus 8 Pro (review).
This is a dual-SIM phone that supports 5G and other wireless connections, such as Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5, and supports multiple satellites for navigation. It also has an in-display fingerprint sensor. Black Shark 3S has a 4,729mAh battery that supports 65W fast charging.
In terms of cameras, Black Shark 3S has a 20-megapixel selfie camera with an aperture of f/2.0. The rear camera includes a main 64-megapixel sensor with f/1.8 aperture and phase detection autofocus (PDAF). You will also get a 13-megapixel wide-angle camera with a 120-degree field of view and a 5-megapixel depth camera. Black Shark can record video at 4K 60fps.
The launch of gaming smartphones seems to have started suddenly. In addition to the Black Shark, Nubia recently launched the Red Magic 5S with a 144Hz display. Lenovo also launched the equally impressive Legion Phone Duel, which is equipped with a unique side-mounted pop-up selfie camera. Finally, we asked Asus to launch ROG Phone 3 in India, starting at Rs. 49,999. You can read our first impressions of it here.
