Beats Powerbeats Fit Review: Compact Fitness Earbuds?

Several TWS manufacturers have been targeting sports and exercise consumers. Beats isn’t new to this list, as it previously launched the Beats Fit Pro in 2021, and now, the successor is here. Beats Powerbeats Fit is the latest product in the TWS category, aimed at fitness enthusiasts. It sits below the more premium Powerbeats Pro 2, which I reviewed a few months ago and thought was a solid choice for audiophiles.

Before starting the review, let’s clarify a few things, like naming. The brand says the Powerbeats Fit naming brings it in line with the existing Powerbeats Pro 2. So the brand isn’t calling it Beats Fit Pro 2 or anything like that, which makes sense from a branding perspective. At Rs. 24,900, does the Powerbeats Fit offer a better and more affordable package than its bigger brother? I found out in the comments.

Beats Powerbeats fit and comfort: it has wings

  • Weight – 49.7 g (box) and 5.78 g (headphones)
  • Dimensions – in-ear
  • IP Rating – IPX4 Rating
  • Available in Jet Black, Gravel Grey, Sparkle Orange and Vibrant Pink

First and foremost, the biggest highlight of the Powerbeats Fit is its wingtip design, which cements its status as an in-ear pair that truly won’t fall out. While it still looks a lot like its predecessor, the Beats Fit Pro, the new design helps the Powerbeats Fit offer a universal design, meaning one size fits all. You insert the earphones and tuck the wingtips under the upper ear ridges to lock them in place. When it comes to comfort, the Powerbeats Fit is the champ by a wide margin. I really like the snug fit, and the company has made sure it caters to all types of exercise enthusiasts, offering four eartip sizes: XS, S, M, and L for more personalized comfort.

The retail box contains Powerbeats Fit true wireless earphones, charging case, earbuds, quick start guide and warranty card

During my time with the TWS, the Powerbeats Fit never bothered me for hours upon hours when they were gently inserted into my ears like other products on the market. It won’t wobble or come loose and stays locked in, even during intense workouts. The company also offers a fit test for iOS and a Beats app for Android to find your best earbud size. The Powerbeats Fit has an IPX4 rating for sweat and water resistance, which isn’t the highest rating we’ve seen for a TWS device, but it’s more than adequate for daily workouts.

The earphones have a multi-function button on each side that can be customized via the app. You can press and hold the left or right earbud to turn the volume up or down. Likewise, you can answer a call by pressing either earbud once, and mute or unmute the call by pressing it again (single). To end the call, you can press twice. The Powerbeats Fit has automatic ear detection and works flawlessly.

Powerbeats Fit’s flexible wingtip design has a universal design

The charging case weighs less than 50 grams and is compact enough to fit into the smallest pockets. The charging case size was one of the issues with the Powerbeats Pro 2, but the Powerbeats Fit solves that problem. On the other hand, each earbud weighs less than 6 grams. Beats’ Powerbeats Fit packaging is made from 100% plant-based materials derived from recycled fibers (and/or sustainably sourced from forests). The Fit is available in four colors: Jet Black, Gravel Grey, Sparkle Orange and Vibrant Pink. Overall, the Powerbeats Fit feel like a quality earbud designed for intense daily workouts.

Beats Powerbeats Fit Sound Quality: Excellent

  • Powered by Apple H1 chip
  • Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) with transparency mode
  • Available for Android and iPhone

The Apple H1 chip powers the Powerbeats Fit, which may be one reason why it doesn’t have heart rate monitoring, which is part of the Powerbeats Pro 2 and AirPods Pro 3 – Apple’s latest H2 chip powers both. On iOS and Mac, you get native support for earbuds. The feature list includes seamless support for auto-switching, audio sharing, hands-free Hey Siri commands, and more. There’s also personalized spatial audio with dynamic head tracking support. On Android, however, you only get basic functionality through the Beats app, which offers one-click pairing, customizable controls, battery status, locate my Beats, and fit testing. You can also download OTA (over-the-air) firmware updates via the Android app.

Fit comes in four ear tip sizes – XS, S, M and L

Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) works well with transparency mode, and users also get an adaptive equalizer feature. With ANC turned on, the Fit successfully blocked the fan noise in my room, leaving almost no ambient background noise. When commuting on the subway, I can still hear the trains passing by, but that’s a good thing for me because you should be able to be aware of your surroundings when exercising or using these TWS outdoors. Spatial audio with Dolby Atmos works well on iPhone but is not available on Android devices.

Powerbeats Fit has become a strong competitor in the SUB market. 30,000 TWS categories, lots of features, but what about the sound quality? Let’s get started. I started my test while working out, listening to Massive Attack’s song “Angel,” which is known for its deep, rolling bassline, and the Fit didn’t disappoint. I could feel the bass as a deep rumble, but it didn’t overpower the crisp vocals. Next, I played Tracy Chapman’s song “Fast Car,” a great track for testing the midrange, and Fit managed to keep it clean and centered around her textured voice and acoustic guitar. Additionally, I could hear the subtle nuances of her voice and the crisp guitar strings. On average TWS, the song sounds thin, with the singer’s voice disappearing behind the guitar.

On iOS, Fit gets native support

Next, I chose the Eagles’ classic “Hotel California (Live)” and Fit managed to keep the intro precise, keeping the guitars in the mix and when the drums kicked in, they sounded big and focused. Of course, the crowd applause sounded like I was standing in a venue listening to the song. I also tested the headphones with a few Hindi songs, such as Madari by Vishal Dadlani and Sonu Kakkar from Coke Studio Season 2 on MTV. Fit manages to separate the instruments used in the intro, with the bass guitar in one place, the drums in the middle, and the santur in another. Likewise, Fit also performed well, handling Amit Trivedi and Mame Khan’s song “Chaudhary”, another Coca-Cola Studio classic.

In terms of audio quality, there are no noticeable issues with the Powerbeats Fit in any area, and the microphone is decent for calls, although not the best in the field. Overall, the sound output from the Powerbeats Fit is balanced.

The ANC on Powerbeats Fit works well and is perfect for your daily workouts

Beats Powerbeats Fit battery life: lasts for days

Powerbeats Fit is claimed to have up to 7 hours of battery life per earphone on a single charge (ANC turned off), which can be extended to 30 hours when using the charging case. It is said that with ANC turned on, the total battery life can reach 6 hours of continuous playback, and the total battery life with the charging box can reach 24 hours. In my testing, the Powerbeats Fit lasted for multiple days, playing around 3-4 hours of music per day. Of course, my usage included the charging case, but overall, the battery life of the Powerbeats Fit is great, and these earbuds last for days.

Powerbeats Fit is powered by the Apple H1 chip

Additionally, the Fit supports fast charging, with the company claiming that a 5-minute charge can provide an hour of playback time.

Beats Powerbeats Fit Verdict

At Rs. The Powerbeats Fit is priced at Rs 24,900, which is very close to the pricing of the new AirPods Pro 3 (Rs 25,900), which is both a premium product and packs more of a punch. The overall package definitely looks a bit pricey and if the price is less than Rs. it would be a good option. 20,000. Still, the Powerbeats Fit appeal to a different audience than the AirPods Pro 3.

TWS is IPX4 rated sweat and waterproof

The Powerbeats Fit is a great choice for fitness enthusiasts and fitness enthusiasts, as it has the best fit I’ve seen among the many TWS options. The wingtip design is the biggest selling point of this product.

So, who should buy Powerbeats Fit? If you’re in the market for a quality TWS that offers the absolute best comfortable fit for intense workouts, and are tired of mediocre products, then the Fit is for you. It misses out on one important feature that the Powerbeats Pro 2 had – heart rate monitoring, so you might as well give that a try. It’s slightly more expensive than the Fit. For complete peace of mind, AirPods Pro 3 still seems to be the best option around Rs 100. 25,000 price range.
