Battlefield 6’s free-to-play battle royale mode, Battlefield Redsec, is now available, along with the game’s Season 1 update. Electronic Arts released the mode on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X on Tuesday with just one day’s notice. In addition to the traditional battle royale mode, Redsec has also added a new “Gauntlet” mode inspired by multiplayer gaming. EA has now detailed its complete roadmap for Redsec and Battlefield 6 Season 1 content.
In a new blog post on the Battlefield 6 website, EA details the new Redsec mode and all the new content coming as part of its planned Season 1 roadmap. The standalone mode introduces a new battle royale map, Lindenberg, and a new challenge mode, as well as the first phase of Season 1 content.
Battlefield Redsec Features
Redsec’s Lydenburg map is a government testing ground with hidden secrets. The map features an urban environment with several high-rise buildings and opportunities for tactical destruction. The map includes nine major points of interest, including beaches, military installations, and more. EA says the map is the largest in Battlefield history.
The battle royale mode currently supports 100 players playing in teams of two or four. Players can choose their profession and sidearms, and then go looking for better weapons and equipment. During the match, players can also unlock additional abilities, gadgets, and calls to gain an advantage over other teams.
In addition to the battle royale, Redsec also comes with a new Gauntlet mode, which features squad-based elimination missions. In this mode, eight teams will perform a series of missions with different objectives, culminating in a final showdown.
The mode has eight different mission types to cycle through each round. At the end of each round, the bottom two teams in the challenge will be eliminated.
Battlefield Redsec also brings updates to Portal mode, allowing players to create custom Redsec experiences.
