The Bats shined as No. 18 TCU found its groove with a three-game home sweep of New Haven in nonleague action at Lupton Stadium over the weekend. The Horned Frogs (6-5) scored 46 points over the weekend and are back above .500 on the season. TCU will continue non-conference play with a home game against Abilene Christian on Tuesday and a three-game series with Tulane this weekend.
Friday: No. 18 TCU 14, New Haven 3
Left-hander Mason Brasfield started the series opener for the Horned Frogs, who are still without ace Tommy Rupert due to an elbow issue. Brasfield pitched four innings and struck out five batters while holding New Haven to two earned runs, earning his first win of the season. Kade Durnin relieved himself, striking out two over the final three innings and earning his first save of the season around three walks.
Chase Brunson hit his first home run of the season and the TCU offense finished with nine hits. TCU led 1-0 after one inning, scoring four points in the second inning, five in the third and three in the fourth to lead New Haven. Nolan Traeger had an RBI single in the team’s first inning, followed by a three-run double in the third inning. Cole Cramer had a three-run double in the fourth inning for the Horned Frogs.

Saturday: No. 18 TCU 12, New Haven 4
The Horned Frogs scored at least one run in all eight games they batted on Saturday. Lance Davis started the game and pitched 3.1 innings, and Walter Quinn (2-0) got the win in relief, striking out four batters and holding New Haven to just one hit in two scoreless innings. Zach James pitched the final two innings for TCU, striking out four batters without a walk and limiting New Haven’s offense to one run.
Cole Kramer had a two-run hit in the first inning and drove in three runs for the second straight game. Sawyer Strosnider drew three walks and Jack Arthur had a two-run double in the seventh inning that ended with two RBIs. Rob Liddington had an RBI single in the eighth inning and the TCU offense went 2-for-3, finishing with 10 hits and tying 11 runs. Brady Dallimore went 2-for-2 with an RBI single in the third inning.

Sunday: No. 18 TCU 20, New Haven 1
The Horned Frogs exploded for eight runs in the first inning and 11 in the fifth to clinch Sunday’s series finale. TCU totaled 11 hits and walked 13, with Uli Fernsler picking up his first win on the mound. Feinsler pitched three innings and struck out two before turning the ball over to Trevor Baumler, who fanned three innings of relief work. Tyler Phenow pitched a scoreless seventh to seal the win.
Cole Cramer was on top of the plate, going 3-for-3 with an RBI single and four runs in the fifth inning. Sawyer Strosnider doubled, scored twice, had a three-run double and finished with three RBIs in the first inning. Preston Gamster hit a two-run double in the fifth inning to cap off the win with three RBIs, while Nolan Traeger had two RBIs and Chase Brunson went 2-for-3 with three runs scored.
