Barcelona goalkeeper Joan Garcia continues to enjoy significant progress after being recognized at the Gran Gala Mundo Deportivo event with the El Corte Inglés La Liga Best Goalkeeper Award for the 2024/25 season.
The award was the result of outstanding individual performance, with Garcia finishing the season as the goalkeeper with the most saves in La Liga with an impressive 146 saves.

He also leads the league in goals prevented at 7.4, showing that he often saves the team at critical moments.
Along the way, he was recognized for his performances every month, winning La Liga’s Best Save Award in February and March.

One of the defining chapters of Garcia’s Barcelona journey was his return to the RCDE Stadium, a game filled with emotion and external pressure.
Looking back on the incident, the Barcelona goalkeeper explained how he approached the game mentally.
“I wasn’t particularly nervous against Espanyol, but it was a different game,” he said.

Instead of focusing on individual moments, goalkeepers focus on the big picture.
Speaking about Barcelona’s current trajectory and ambitions for the rest of the season, Garcia displayed the calm confidence that has become one of his signature traits.
“I think the season is going well, we’re doing well, we’re still playing in all the games and that’s the important thing.”
The evening itself also provided a lighter moment, with Garcia invited to step out of his comfort zone and take penalties rather than prevent them.
Although his shot was on target, goals were never really a thing and the goalkeeper had a good deal of humor about it.

It’s worth noting that Garcia has already explained why he prefers to stay away from penalties. Looking back on his early football career, he recalled:
“When I was little I played as a field player but it wasn’t my cup of tea and when I was about six I became a goalkeeper.
“That’s why I let those who know how to do it take the punishment.”
