Michael Waldron is reportedly writing the screenplay for Avengers: Secret War, Deadline.The scribe is known for his Rocky, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of and Rick and Morty were the front-runners writers who attended an internal meeting last month. Currently, there is no director for the Phase 6 film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is the final story in the multiverse saga. Avengers: Secret Wars is set to hit theaters on November 7, 2025.

Plot details are scarce, but if we refer to the 12-part comic series published in 1984, Avengers: Secret Wars may introduce a new villain named The Beyonder. Fascinated by the presence of superheroes on Earth, the entity picks up a group of heroes and supervillains and teleports them to a new planet called Battleworld. Armed with alien weapons and technology, this realm is where selected characters fight against each other just for Beyonder’s entertainment. Killing an enemy will give the victor anything they want. Of course, the MCU finds itself in a very different place, with Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors) more to be the villain.

As is customary, this group of heroes will include members of the Avengers, Fantastic Four, and solo heroes -Man and Spider-Woman. Fantastic Four Released almost a year ago in November 2024 – the first entry into Phase 6 of the MCU – will be directed by Matt Shackman (WandaVision).

According to Deadline, Avengers: Secret War will “have its own director” instead of bringing in Destin Daniel Cretton to direct the sequel. The Shang-Chi and Legend of the Ten filmmakers were recently hired to direct Avengers: Dynasty Kang, which will be released in May 2025. even landed a screenwriter last month in Jeff Loveness, who just finished work on Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum of Madness.
