Asus Zenbook 14 (UM3406G) Review: A Premium Thin-and-Light That Delivers

ASUS has kicked off 2026 with the launch of its updated Zenbook and Vivobook series product lines in India. The brand recently launched its new Zenbook S16 and Zenbook 14 series laptops, powered by AMD processors, bringing new colors, better hardware, and more. More importantly, we’ll be talking about the Zenbook 14, which has been one of the company’s most popular products in the consumer space. The brand’s latest model is priced at Rs. 1,15,990 and brings a host of interesting features to the masses. However, does it have enough of an arsenal to be your reliable daily driver? I had the opportunity to use this device as a daily driver, here’s what you need to know.

ASUS Zenbook 14 (UM3406G) laptop design: beautiful and stylish

  • Dimensions – 312.4 x 220 x 14.9mm
  • Weight – 1.28kg
  • Color – Jade Black

ASUS is one of the few brands that puts a lot of effort into laptop design. The same effort can be seen on this laptop as well. The device has a sturdy and premium design. The laptop is also very compact with a thickness of 14.9mm and is lightweight at 1.2kg.

The Asus Zenbook 14 comes in a single black color option.

The chassis is made of aluminum alloy and the lid is anodized for a sophisticated and classic look. There are lines on the lid and the Zenbook logo on the bottom looks pretty premium, to be honest. The black color is truly stunning and the finish is up to par making it a premium product.

However, it stains easily and is not easy to clean. This ruins the entire design aesthetic. For example, you can see your palm print on the touchpad or even when you open the lid of your laptop. Also, I found the lid to be a bit stiff and difficult to open with one hand. It’s kind of convenient, to be honest.

The Asus Zenbook 14 has good connectivity ports.

As for ports, there is 1 USB 3.2 Gen 2 port and 1 USB 4 Type-C port, 1 audio jack, and 1 HDMI 2.1 port on the left side. There’s a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port on the right side. That said, it’s extremely durable and has MIL-STD 810H military-grade certification, which does give you peace of mind in the event of an accidental drop. That said, this laptop is well designed, sleek and lightweight, and stays true to the essence of the Zenbook series.

ASUS Zenbook 14 (UM3406G) Laptop Display: Vibrant Colors

  • Display – 14-inch OLED touch screen
  • Resolution – 3K (2880 x 1800 pixels)
  • Refresh rate – 60Hz

As for the display, the ASUS Zenbook 14 comes with a compact 14-inch OLED display with narrow bezels at the edges. The display is touch-enabled and lays flat 180 degrees, which is a good thing.

ASUS Zenbook 14 comes with a 14.0-inch 3K OLED display.

The OLED panel really brings sharp contrast and vibrant colors to the table. The panel is well calibrated to deliver uniform colors out of the box, while the OLED panel keeps light leakage to a minimum. You can also use the MyAsus app to adjust the display as needed, which is a nice addition.

That said, laptop screens are reflective due to their glossy coating. Also, the brightness is not very bright in outdoor conditions. Therefore, you may have some difficulty reading the screen in a bright office or outdoor cafe. The display also has a 60Hz refresh rate, which may be disappointing to some, especially if you’re moving from a 120Hz panel to a screen.

ASUS Zenbook 14 (UM3406G) laptop keyboard, touchpad, speakers and webcam: working fine

  • Keyboard – Backlit keyboard
  • Webcam – 1080p high resolution camera
  • Speakers – Dual Super Linear Speakers

The ASUS Zenbook 14 comes with a compact backlit keyboard. Its LED is bright enough to highlight keys in dark conditions. Talking about performance, the ErgoSense keyboard on this device offers shorter travel and offers a decent 1.4mm of key travel. Once you get past the learning curve, the keyboard is very easy to operate and the typing experience feels effortless. The laptop was my daily driver throughout the review period, and I never experienced any fatigue or tiredness during long typing sessions.

ASUS Zenbook 14 comes with a backlit keyboard for comfortable typing.

The laptop also comes with a large touchpad, which worked well during the review period. You’ll also find the numpad keys in the upper right corner, which is a neat addition. With this, you can easily turn your touchpad into a numeric keypad, which is useful when you want to use quick calculations in Excel or Sheets.

In terms of security, the laptop doesn’t come with a physical fingerprint sensor, but you do get an infrared-based camera to support Windows Hello. The infrared camera worked fine throughout the review period. However, in some cases it refuses to accept the face. Moving on, the camera is good and you don’t have many issues using it for quick video calls.

The company has added dual super-linear speakers, which is a good thing. However, the audio quality is average at best. The audio lacks bass, and you can feel a bit of distortion at high volumes.

  • Operating System – Windows 11 Home Page
  • Other features – Copilot, ASUS AI apps

You get all Microsoft CoPilot features including Live Captioning, Windows Studio Effects v2, Recall, and more, which are useful in different situations. Then there’s the ASUS StoryCube, which is a one-stop shop for managing photos and videos.

Apart from that, the MyAsus app is a one-stop solution for handling most of the functions on this laptop. With this app, you can diagnose problems, update drivers, and even customize settings, which is a good thing.

In terms of gaming performance, the laptop can easily handle most casual games as long as you play them on low to medium settings. There are several different modes to help you get the most out of your laptop: Speed, Performance, Standard, and Silent. In performance mode, the fan speed is high but the performance remains the same.

The laptop is powered by AMD Ryzen AI 5 430 processor.

The heat dissipation performance is also good. During my review period, I barely noticed the laptop getting hot during daily use. Even when performing intensive tasks, the laptop remains stable and you won’t notice it getting too hot to handle.

ASUS Zenbook 14 (UM3406G) laptop battery: long-lasting and reliable

  • Battery capacity – 4 cells, 75 Wh (typ)
  • Fast Charging – 65W USB Type-C Adapter

The laptop comes with a 75Wh hour battery that can easily last for two days with moderate usage.

The Asus Zenbok 14 is also one of the few laptops with good battery life. The device comes with a 4-cell 75Wh battery that supports 65W fast charging. With moderate usage, this laptop can easily last nearly two days. Even if you are a heavy user, you can still easily get 7 to 8 hours of backup.

ASUS Zenbook 14 (UM3406G) Laptop Review

The ASUS Zenbook 14 really makes a good impression with its premium design language and solid performance. The lightweight design makes it easier to carry without putting too much pressure on your back. The OLED display is colorful and visually intense, but the reflective screen does make it a bit difficult to use in outdoor conditions. Its performance is leading and competitive in the segment. If you’re looking for a reliable 14-inch laptop with good portability, design, and performance, consider this product.
