Apple Music has launched a new cross-platform feature that allows users to transfer playlists to YouTube Music. Although the Cupertino-based tech giant stresses that playlists can be transferred to “other services,” only YouTube Music is currently supported. However, users can only transfer playlists they created themselves or collaborated on. Music files or folders for organizing playlists cannot be transferred through this process.

Details of Apple’s new playlist transfer feature were revealed in a recently published support page. The iPhone maker says users can request to transfer Apple Music playlists from YouTube Music to YouTube Music. Data and privacy Page.

In order to transfer playlists, users need an active Apple Music or iTunes Match subscription and an active YouTube Music account. While it usually takes a few minutes to transfer playlists, Apple’s support document explains that it can take up to a few hours depending on the number of playlists and their size.

For now, Apple will only allow users to transfer playlists they create. This also includes user-owned collaborative playlists. However, non-collaborative shared playlists, curated playlists, or music files themselves are not transferable. Additionally, folders organizing Apple Music playlists cannot be transferred.

Additionally, the playlist to be transferred can only include songs available on YouTube Music. No exclusive songs, podcasts or audiobooks will be transferred. It is worth noting that the playlist will not be deleted from Apple Music after transfer.
