In his speech at the United Nations Ambition on Saturday, called on governments and companies to implement climate targets starting next year.

According to the prepared words seen by Reuters, Cook said: “We call on companies and governments around the world to make every effort to make 2021 a year for us to turn forever.”

In his speech, Cook did not call for specific targets, but revealed that Apple is assisting its 95 suppliers to transition to renewable energy, compared with 70 in July. The iPhone manufacturer said earlier this year that its operations have achieved carbon neutrality and plans to achieve carbon neutrality for its supply chain and product lineup by 2030.

The summit was held on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the international Paris climate agreement, and the summit will also be held next year before the UN meeting in Glasgow, Scotland.

US President Donald Trump withdrew the United States from the Paris Agreement in 2017. Cook publicly criticized the withdrawal as “bad for our planet”, although he did not mention Trump in his criticism.
