Another Saints assistant has declined to join Steelers coaching staff

Another New Orleans Saints coach has declined to join Mike McCarthy’s Pittsburgh Steelers. Tight ends coach Chase Haslett interviewed with Pittsburgh on Monday but decided to stay in New Orleans on Tuesday, NFL Insider Jordan Schultz reported. Keeping Haslett and quarterbacks coach Scott Tolzin on Kellen Moore’s staff is a huge win for the Saints. Both were close to McCarthy and worked under him with the Dallas Cowboys. In Haslett’s case, his father (former Saints head coach Jim Haslett) coached for the Steelers, and McCarthy gave him his first NFL coaching job.

So it speaks volumes that both Haslett and Torzin chose to stick with Moore and continue building their careers in New Orleans. It shows that what Moore is selling is something that a lot of people buy into, not just from his players but from his coaches as well. Having this continuity and consistent messaging and development from year one to year two can go a long way. At the same time, you want to see other teams express interest in these guys. This shows that the Saints have real talent in terms of construction that other teams want to take away. Now let’s see if 2026 brings more wins.
