Amy Hennig’s Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra Delayed ‘Beyond Early 2026’

Today is a day of delays. Just minutes before Rockstar Games confirmed that it was once again delaying the release of “Grand Theft Auto 6”, Skydance Games also announced that it would delay its upcoming superhero action-adventure game “Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra” for a second time. Rise of Hydra was originally slated for release in early 2026, but has been postponed indefinitely.

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra delayed

In an announcement at X early Friday morning, Skydance Games said it would delay the release window of Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra until “after early 2026.” The studio did not provide a new release window or date for the game. Skydance said the delay was to ensure the game reaches the expected level of quality.

“Skydance Games’ goal is to create memorable, high-quality games that pay homage to the characters and worlds we’re lucky enough to work with,” said Skydance. “Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is an ambitious project, and we’re committed to ensuring it reaches the level of quality our team, players, and fans expect.”

“In order to fully realize our vision for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, we have decided to delay the release beyond early 2026.

“We appreciate the enthusiasm and support from communities and players around the world. The team is hard at work creating something truly special, and we look forward to sharing more with you as development progresses.”

The lack of a new release window and the wording of the announcement suggest the delay could be considerable. Not only has the developer delayed the game’s release to make more improvements by the time it launches, but it’s also “fully realized” its “vision,” hinting that more features or more extensive changes may be added to the game.

This is the second time “Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra” has been delayed. The game was originally slated to launch in 2025, but was delayed to early 2026 in May this year. Rise of Hydra is helmed by industry veteran Amy Hennig, known for her work on the Legacy of Kain and Uncharted series.

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is a story-driven action-adventure game featuring four playable characters: Captain America, Azzuri, the Black Panther of the 1940s; Gabriel Jones of the Howling Commandos; and Nanali, a Wakandan spy lurking in occupied Paris. The game will focus on the story of Captain America and Black Panther teaming up to defeat Hydra during World War II.

Skydance confirmed last year that Rise of Hydra would be published by Plaion.
