’s long-awaited launch of the on Wednesday was damaged by glitches and translation errors, including the Swedish language mistaken for the flag of Argentina.

The website provides customers with 150 million products in more than 30 categories. The website uses the wrong English to Swedish translation and thus uses offensive words in the product descriptions.

The word valdtakt means rape in Swedish and is currently used in several products instead of rap.

Some product descriptions use Swedish to refer to male genitalia instead of rooster, and the frying pan is classified as a female product.

Many users turned to Twitter to point out errors.

A Twitter user said: “Your choice of words is a disaster for your launch. You need a new overseas sales director. I think your stock will plummet because of this.”

Another user pointed out that the prices of the products listed on the Swedish website are higher than the prices on his German website.

Swedish customers can already shop on Amazon through its websites in other European countries (such as Germany) and then ship the purchased goods, but this usually means paying high fees.

A spokesperson said: “We want to thank everyone for highlighting these issues and helping us make changes and improve Amazon.se.”

Alex Ootes, vice president of Amazon’s EU expansion department, said that the new website will also offer tens of thousands of products from Swedish companies.

The company stated that orders over 229 Swedish kronor (approximately Rs 1,900) and goods shipped from Amazon’s fulfillment center will be shipped free of charge.

Most deliveries will be carried out by the postal company Postnord, and shoppers can also choose priority delivery, and the package will be delivered within two days.

At 1501 GMT, Amazon shares fell 2.7%.
