After Shanaka & Blessing, third foreign player leaves PSL; is he CSK bound?

South African fast bowler Ottneil Batman could become the third foreign player to ditch the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and join the Indian Premier League (IPL), after Zimbabwe’s Blessed Muzarabani and Sri Lanka’s Dasan Shanaka.

The 33-year-old right-arm fast bowler exited the PSL last week and Pakistani news outlet Geo Super reported on Monday that PSL side Hyderabad Kingsmen are weighing options to replace Batman.

According to a report in Geo Super, the PSL franchise has approached Sri Lankan spinner Maheesh Theekshana for an invitation to play in the tournament.

Which IPL franchise can Batman join?

After Nathan Ellis was ruled out of the season, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) emerged as the front-runners to tempt Buteman.

The Australian fast bowler has been ruled out due to a hamstring injury and Buteman could be an equal replacement for CSK.

However, it is not yet known the reason for Buteman’s exit from the PSL and there is no reliable information about him joining any IPL team.

Earlier, Sri Lanka T20I captain Dasun Shanaka was confirmed on Monday as the replacement for injured England all-rounder Sam Curran for the IPL 2026 Rajasthan Royals training camp.

Shanaka will join Rajasthan Royals (RR) for Rs 2 crore. Shanaka’s move to RR makes him the second international player after Zimbabwean blessing Muzarabani to leave the Pakistan Super League for the Indian Super League.

After going unsold in the IPL auction, Shanaka was roped in by PSL side Lahore Qalandars.

Rajasthan Royals will begin their IPL 2026 on March 30 at home against Chennai Super Kings in Guwahati.
