Texas substitute teacher charged with child sex offenses, ‘no longer employed’ by school district

A Texas substitute teacher has been arrested and faces multiple felony charges, including aggravated sexual assault of a child, police said.

Madison Jones, 30, was arrested by the Midlothian Police Department on Dec. 19, two days after a report of a possible sexual assault involving a child.

Detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division later identified the second suspect as Zackery Dondlinger, 37, of Happy, Texas, police said.

Dondlinger was arrested on Dec. 23 and charged with performing a sexual act on a child and was being held at the Winkler County Detention Center at the time of his arrest.

Madison Jones, 30, was arrested on December 19, 2025 by officers from the Midlothian Police Department.

Midlothian Police Assistant Chief Scott Brown told Fox News Digital that Jones and Dondlinger were dating.

Ellis County Sheriff’s Office jail records show Jones was being held on charges including aggravated sexual assault of a child, a first-degree felony, two counts of indecent liberties with a child by sexual contact, a second-degree felony, and one count of possession of child pornography involving more than 500 visual depictions, a first-degree felony.

She is being held on $90,000 bail.

“The Midlothian Police Department would like to thank the Ellis County Children’s Advocacy Center for its assistance, the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Texas Attorney General’s Office Fugitive Apprehension Unit and the Loving County Sheriff’s Office for their support in locating and apprehending Dondlinger,” the department posted on Facebook, noting that the investigation is ongoing.

Midlothian Independent School District (ISD) told Fox News Digital that Jones is no longer employed by them and that she served as a substitute teacher four times in the past 12 months, including one day at Heritage High School on Nov. 19 and three days at Baxter Elementary School on Oct. 28-29 and Nov. 3.

The district added that there is no information at this time that the charges are related to Jones’ work as a substitute teacher or that any incidents occurred on district campuses or during school-related events.

“Our district’s process for monitoring employee criminal histories worked as expected and DPS notified us promptly,” Midlothian Independent School District said in a statement. “MISD no longer employs the substitute teacher, and the district followed required reporting procedures to the Texas Education Agency.”
