The Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to launch in the coming months, and images of the company’s upcoming handheld console have leaked online, giving us a closer look at its design. The design renders appear to confirm some claims over the past few months that the Nintendo Switch successor will feature a larger display and controllers, as well as a more mature design. We can also see that the USB ports have been relocated and Nintendo has given the gaming handheld a new, unidentified button.
Nintendo Switch 2, Joy-Con design changes (expected)
Tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer (@OnLeaks) has teamed up with 91Mobiles to leak a detailed design render of an alleged Nintendo Switch 2. The images show that the gaming handheld device comes in a black color scheme and has a more advanced design compared to the first-generation Nintendo Switch. The company’s 2017 console came with red and blue Joy-Cons, while the upcoming model comes with black controllers.

The black Joy-Con of the Nintendo Switch 2 has blue and orange accents underneath the left and right joysticks respectively. The button layout on the front seems to be very similar to the old model, except for the new button located next to the home button.
At the same time, we can also see the same color accents on the part of the Joy-Con that connects to the display – these colors will be hidden when the controller is connected, as a tipster on Reddit previously predicted. The bottom of the device is equipped with a docking mechanism, while the left side includes the gaming slot.
According to the leaked images, the game and handheld may also come with some design changes. USB Type-C is located on the top of the device, next to the 3.5mm headphone port. The publication also suggests that the company may have made improvements to the kickstand used to keep the handheld device upright in desktop mode.
Nintendo is expected to equip the Switch 2 with an 8.4-inch display, which is larger than the 6.2-inch LCD display of its predecessor (the Switch OLED display is 7 inches). According to the tipster, the dimensions of Nintendo Switch 2 are 271×116.4×31.4mm.
