49ers surge in newest power rankings after Week 13 win vs. Browns

The San Francisco 49ers traveled to the Midwest in Week 13 for a battle against the Cleveland Browns at Huntington Bank Field, where Kyle Shanahan’s team won 26-8 on Sunday to improve to 9-4 on the season and 6-2 on the road.

San Francisco outplayed Cleveland in all three phases, with their offense reaching the end zone three times, their defense keeping the Browns off the scoreboard, and special teams setting up the offense with excellent field position on multiple occasions.

The win gave the 49ers their third straight victory, their second three-game winning streak this season. It also keeps the 49ers in seventh place in the league and brings them within half a game of the Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks in the division.

On Tuesday, USA Today’s Nate Davis released his weekly NFL power rankings, and this win over the Browns moved the 49ers up to No. 10 after last week’s No. 14 ranking.

“They will only leave the Valley again in the regular season, and with a 9-4 record, the Niners have a very good chance of gaining home field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs,” Davis wrote.

San Francisco finally gets a bye in Week 14, so they have no control over next week’s ranking, but they’ll at least be in the running for the sixth seed based on the outcome of the game between the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers.
